REALLY OLD NEW RELEASES

Hello everyone! Today I will be talking about the books that came out recently (or not so recently) that I still haven’t gotten around to reading. I’ve not been reading a ton lately, so some have slipped through the cracks due to that, but some have been on my list to read for ages and I really have no excuse.

note: all summaries are excerpts from Goodreads. click on “read more” to go to the book’s goodreads page. this is a spoiler free zone, so excerpts posted here are from the first book in a series.

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett

34787673Starting on a slightly positive note, I do actually own a copy of this book and I guess I can use the excuse that I’ve been waiting until summer to read it seeing as that is when I read most of my contemporary books. Then again, it was published before last summer soooo. I really loved Night Owls by Jenn Bennett and this one doesn’t seem quite as much up my alley so I think I might be putting off out of fear that I won’t like it as much? Who knows, but hopefully it will get read this summer!

Bailey “Mink” Rydell has met the boy of her dreams. They share a love of films and talk all day – Alex is perfect. Well, apart from the fact that they’ve never actually met . . . and neither of them knows the other’s real name. Read more.

Obsidio by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

obsidioOkay, so this one is really because I haven’t been reading much recently because I love the Illuminae Files and I honestly can’t wait to read this book, but I don’t even own a copy yet… this feels like something I should rectify ASAP.

This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded.

The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit. Read more about Illuminae or read more about Obsidio

The Wish Granter by C. J. Redwine

the wish granterThis one was also released at the beginning of 2017!!!! SO LONG AGO. This is the second book in the Ravenspire series (the first book was called The Shadow Queen) and it’s a series of companion books, which is maybe why I haven’t even bought this book yet! I will do it, really because the third book is out already and I haven’t even read the second! The below excerpt is for this book, not the first book, as they are companion novels so there’s no spoilers.

The world has turned upside down for Thad and Ari Glavan, the bastard twins of Súndraille’s king. Their mother was murdered. The royal family died mysteriously. And now Thad sits on the throne of a kingdom whose streets are suddenly overrun with violence he can’t stop. Read more about The Wish Granter or read more about The Shadow Queen.

Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff

godsgraveOkay this is another sightly more recent release, still 2017, but at least it was nearer the end of 2017! This is the second book in the Nevernight Chronicles and I think the reason I haven’t picked this book up yet is because I’m still kind of upset by the events at the end of Nevernight and am not yet emotionally prepared to read this book. Nevertheless, I haven’t even bought it yet soooo I should probably get around to reading this soon!

Destined to destroy empires, Mia Covere is only ten years old when she is given her first lesson in death.

Six years later, the child raised in shadows takes her first steps towards keeping the promise she made on the day that she lost everything. Read more about Nevernight or read more about Godsgrave.

So that was it! I didn’t even want to search for the books I didn’t know I was missing out on because then I would feel so overwhelmed! But if you know of any really good 2018 releases that you think I should check out, please let me know!! Lots of love and happy reading, Keira x.
